Just like with people, dogs need to be heard, but since they speak another language it can be hard to hear them. We build trust with our dogs when we listen to their needs and adjust our training to help them feel safer and be more open to learning or doing new things. To do this we have to learn what dogs are conveying to us, not assume we know, and then learn how to show them we hear them and we will work with them to make things better for them and us. Trust builds a bond that allows both of you to move forward.
When we build trust with our dogs they can calm down and listen to us better allowing them to listen to us.
